Renowned French architect, Paul Andreu is taking the Chinese landscape by storm. The Oceanus Casino, Macau, will have 600 6-star hotel rooms and will be designed to look like the bow of a ship. It will also have a commercial office tower inside. The plan is to demolish the current Jai Alai casino & the New Yaohan department store for this construction.
Currently under construction, the Casino should be open for business end 2008/beginning 2009. With over 450 000 square meters, the Oceanus complex is announced as the biggest casino in Asia and eventually one of the biggest in the world.
The main building comes into the sea like a majestic ship whereas the tower springs towards the sky and will become one of the highest towers in Macau.
Andreu has also designed the National Grand Theater in Beijing, The Technology and Science Enterprising Center in Chengdu, and the Oriental Art Center in Shanghai.
