Tameer Towers in Abu Dhabi

The UAE capital city of Abu Dhabi is set to have another addition to its ever expanding skyline. The Tameer Towers development, designed by U.S architect Hilson Moran of Gensler and Structural Engineers, would be a premium mixed use development consisting of 6 buildings spanning over a land space of 465,000 square metres. It would be located on an exclusive area in Shams, between the Arabian Sea and a 1million square feet Central Park.

There would be 4 residential towers, a commercial tower, a 7-star-luxury-business hotel, stepped villas and townhouses, a private marina and a vibrant canal promenade.

The Commercial Tower

The centrepiece of the development is set to be a 73-storey commercial tower spanning 985 feet with a gross area of 1.7 million square feet. The curvaceously formed commercial tower would split at its lower 20 floor levels into two legs straddling through a private marina and pedestrian area that would connect to the central park and Arabian Sea.

The Other Towers

The other four towers would be positioned in an order of symmetry that would create two proportioned islands. This would establish a grand entryway to visitors arriving the development by sea. All four towers would also stand on terraced, stepped podiums and feature pools.

The project is estimated to cost $3.5 billion. Construction work on the main commercial building commenced in February 2008, and is expected to be completed in 2011.
